BUSY BEE DOCUMENTARY

I have the funniest Busy Bee story but I can't tell it....ALRIGHT I will change some names to protect the not so innocent! lol. Iused to work with Jazzy Jef from the Funky Four +1. He had a studio called Platinum Touch down on 14sst right across from Nells in NYC. (BTW I have some Jeff stories too....but that's another post) Anyway , I was at the studio with Jeff , the original AZ from Mobb Style, Busy Bee,my man John and a well known producer. Busy was telling stories of how when he used to go see a chick and spend the night, he would wait for her to go to the bathroom and then stash his jewlery and money under the mattress so she would not be able to steal it while he was sleep! LOL He is a funny cat to this day. Anyway the well known producer, my man John and I were getting ready to leave to go to the Palladium for Chris Lighty's Bday party. Busy asked us if he could ride with us. I did not care but apparently well known producer did. As we got to my car the well known producer said to me " Yo let's be out, I don't want this nigga to come" Little did the well known producer know, Busy Bee was standing right behind him! LOL Well known producer looked back and then got in the front seat of my car. Busy Bee was on the phone and did not get in yet. My man John was in the back seat. So the well known producer says to me " A yo Chris, you think he hard me?? Before I could answer my man John says " HELL YEAH!!!!" LMAO Busy Bee gets in the car and we start driving. Its kind of quiet and I feel bad. 2 blocks later Busy tells me " Aight man you can let me out right here...Ima meet up with this girl hahaha" I totally felt bad because I knew he heard and was just getting out the car out of pride. Well known producer put his foot in his mouth but if you knew him you would not be surprised. Respect to Busy Bee man, He;s a cool funny dude and a true pioneer. Watch this vido

KOOL HERC WHIZ KID & THE HERCULOIDS LIVE @ THE T CONNECTION

Recorded live at the T Connection in 1981. Kool Herc on the set along with Whiz Kid and the Herculoids. The T connection was up in the Bronx off White Plains Rd and Gun Hill Rd. This is a piece of history that true heads need to have. To be honest, I don't fuck with a lot of the new bullshit records that are coming out these days. I'd rather spend my time listening to the classics. My international people show the culture love and I hope you feel what I'm doing with this site. One love.

ONLY IN NY.....

This was some funny shit I came across on Dyckman Street in NY. Me,my man Angel and Buff (in pic) came across this random ATM machine sitting in front of Jimmy Jazz. The machine was not plugged in to anything and was just sitting there dark. It reminded me of the movie Barber Shop when they steal the ATM machne.lol I'm totally convinced this was a set up and DT's were parked somewhere just waiting. lol Just some NY shit....

NEW ARTIST - THROWBACK

Affluent Records Announce the November 4th release of Ohio rapper

Throwback’s Ballin’ Since Birth

Super-talented Mid-West emcee, Throwback, who hails from Youngstown, Ohio, has finally arrived! His highly anticipated solo debut, Ballin’ Since Birth, which contains superb production from one of the industry’s hottest beat-smiths; KaneBeatz [Lil’ Wayne, Flo Rida], as well as several equally gifted up‘n’comers; BeatCatererz, The Shah Bros, and Ozone of Toxiq Entertainment, is due out November, 4th 2008 on Affluent Records.

As an introduction to Ballin’ Since Birth, Throwback recently dropped a pair of widely popular, future hit singles; ‘Trouble’ and ‘Grabbin’ On My Necklace,’ which have been managing to create a huge buzz, and completely raising the stakes for his soon-to-be released project. Other notable tracks include; ‘U In Da Club,’ ‘Dreamin,’ and ‘Get This Dough.’ Stellar high profile cameos are courtesy of the legendary Sadat X, of Brand Nubian fame, Warner Bros. recording artist, Wiz Khalifa, and Affluent label-mate, Kenny Ali.

Throwback, whose catchy moniker derives from his large collection of sports jerseys, is definitely primed and ready for the big leagues. “Ballin’ Since Birth means so many things to me, but the reason for the title is because I have been ballin’ since birth, hypothetically speaking,” the self-proclaimed “Jewish King” states, before expounding, “I create fun music, point blank simple. When people hear my music or see me perform, they just want to dance and have fun. That’s what I aim for.”
In closing, the man born Jon Tepper, who cites Bon Jovi, Poison’s Bret Michaels, Run DMC, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West, as some of his biggest musical influences, is sounding very optimistic, and rightfully so. “Put it this way, I have my foot in the door (now). My shear motivation, dedication, and hustling mentality has been and will continue to be the key to my success or the key to the industry’s door, if you will.” Concluding, “Dreams do come true, life is a hustle, so grind and sooner or later your time will come. Sleep’s for when you’re dead -- Keep ballin’ people!” With that being said, expect a whole lot more to come from Mr. Throwback himself, and on this coming presidential election-day make sure and pick up a copy of his brand new opus, Ballin’ Since Birth!

FUNKMASTER FLEX 12 3 99 - DMX AND JAY Z (AFTER HE STABS UN RIVERA)

This was a classic Flex show. DMX came through to promote his album and the single " What Ya really Want" . Flex was promoting his Tunnel album too. The city was buzzing about Jay Z getting arrested for stabbing Un Rivera. It happened at the Kit Kat Klub in NYC on 12/2/99. My friend Marc was there and said a big commotion broke out on stage and then the club cleared. When they got outside he saw a silver Bentley driving away and people were saying " That's Jay Z!! He just stabbed someone!!" It was QTip's album release party and I heard he was real emotional about the whole thing. lol. The next night Jay went up on Hot 97 right after getting out of jail. He didn't speak about what happened but the excitement in the air was thick. Think this is right around the time he dropped " Do It Again! too. NOTORIOUS B.I.G TRIBUTE - LIVE ON HOT 97

I remember my man Sha called me early in the morning to tell me BIG had been killed. I could not believe it man. I immediately turned on HOT 97 to get more info. I don't even have to get into what BIG meant to hip hop and at that time to the east coast. I remember thinking that Suge was behind this and still feel that way today. My man Chris from Gun Hill projects in the Bronx had a notebook with some of Biggies rhymes and an order for clothes that Big made for his first tour. Big had been to his apartment before he was on with Dan Tanna who used to work for Uptown. Chris brought the notebook to my house and the lyrics for Party & Bullshit, Juicy and a few other joints were in the book. He also had 8 Karl Kani jeans, 7 pairs of Timberlands and some other things written down as well. Little did Chris know that he had a piece of history in his hands. He kept it though and probably still has it to this day. Anyway, this is the Hot 97 tribute to Big. RIP big

TUPAC TRIBUTE - LIVE ON HOT 97

The day Pac passed , I was at Firehouse Studios doing a session. Firehouse was a legendary studio in NY where a lot of hit records were recorded. I was working with a group I was producing and Lil Dap from the Group Home was in the session as well. My manager at the time hit me on the 2 way to tell me that she heard from someone on the West Coast that Pac just passed. In NY it hadn't been announced yet. I remember telling Dap that Pac had died. The whole room got quiet and was hoping that the info was wrong. Ir wasn't. I got to see Pac and Biggie perform together at the Tunnel one Sunday night, right after Pac got out on bail for the rape case he caught at Nells. Big was still coming up and was on stage with Pac. I remember Pac telling the crowd " don't trust these scandalous ass hoes or these trifling bitches!" I was standing right next to Dj Whiz from Kid N Play and we both just looked at each other like " wow!" Then Biggie performed Party & Bullshit with Pac dancing in the back. Thats a night that I will never forget. I wasn't really a huge Pac fan, but I always respected his work ethic and his creativity. Ice T once told me that at a party out in LA, there was a shooting at a club they were at and everyone was running out to the parking lot. Pac grabbed Ice and was trying to get him to go BACK into the club to see what was going on. Ice T said from that point he made a mental note in is head and labeled Pac a "fool". lol He didn't mean it in a bad way just thought that he liked to look for trouble sometimes. Anyway, here is the live Hot 97 tribute to Pac. Monie Love was on Hot at the time and reads a poem Pac wrote and breaks down at the end. Check it out. RIP TUPAC
